ABOUT OUR CENTRE

Oberon Children’s Centre is a community based pre-school catering for 3-5 year old children in Oberon and surrounding Districts.

Then

The Centre was opened in 1979 by a committed and enthusiastic group of people who recognised the need to provide local children with a fun, safe, supportive and caring learning environment prior to school. We thank them for their vision and commitment.

Now

We are very proud to have continued the vision of these committed community members whilst embracing the very latest in research, strategies and thinking on the early learning years.

We are progressive, constantly challenging ourselves to create a better learning environment for our children.

We have dynamic, interactive indoor and outdoor play areas where your child’s imagination is the only limit to their experience.

We have implemented a School Readiness program based around numeracy, literacy, self-help skills, independence and social skills. We also have weekly visits from the local primary schools Kindergarten teachers to ease the transition to Big School.

Our learning environment is based on the Early Years Learning Framework with the added bonus of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated staff who really care.

A focus on children, families and the community

We believe that children learn best when they are supported and encouraged by their family and the wider community.

We encourage the involvement of parents and families within our centre and provide many opportunities to offer feedback, assistance and practical hands-on support including a term roster. This allows parents, carers and even grandparents the opportunity to assist for half a day each term. The kids just love it when their special people are involved in what they are doing.

The Centre boasts a strong, vibrant and enthusiastic committee who work alongside staff to provide the children with the best possible experience.

At our centre, parents are members of the Oberon Children’s Centre and we encourage them to have a voice at our monthly Committee meetings and our Annual General Meeting held in March each year.

Proudly not for profit

Oberon Children’s Centre is proudly a community based, not for profit organisation. As a not for profit organisation we make no profit from fees, instead any surplus is re-invested straight back into our services, facilities and staff.

TESTIMONIAL

“As a parent of two children who have attended Oberon Children’s Centre, we could not be happier with the centre and all that it offers. The staff are fantastic, and they are all obviously doing what they love to do. They are always enthusiastic and happy to see my children come through the door. They interact positively with all the children, and are responsive to my children’s daily needs. These amazing ladies are such an asset to the Oberon Community, their hard work and dedication to the children and centre are second to none. Highly recommended.”

TESTIMONIAL

"Oberon Childrens Centre are leaders in high quality care and education. They have created a centre that caters for individuals growth and development in a caring, supportive, and nuturing environment. They acknowledge that familiy is the most important influential aspect of a childs life, and have adopted a collaborative approach in decision making with families. It takes special dedicated people to educate our most valuable resource - our children.
It is such a delight to really feel a part of the pre-school community, and to know each other on a first name basis. A place I feel comfortable leaving my precious daughter, Oberon Childrens Centre, our extended family."
